Apple Wedges in Red Hot Cinnamon Syrup:

Canning Apple Wedges is relatively easy, just be careful while coring and slicing your apples.


8 to 10 lbs apples
Ball Fruit Fresh Produce Protector
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. cinnamon red hot candies
2 sticks cinnamon
2 tsp. whole cloves
1 tsp. ginger
2 c. water
1 1/2 c. vinegar
2/3 cup light corn syrup
2 Tbsp. red food coloring


Wash, core, and peel yoru apples. Cut them lengthwise into eighths. Treat with Ball Fruit Fresh to prevent them from darkening. Combine the remaining ingredients in a large pot and bring them to a boil SLOWLY. Drain your apple wedges. Add the wedges to the syrup mixture; cover and simmer 4 minutes. Pack the hot apples into hot jars, leaving a 1/2 inch headspace. Ladle hot syrup over the apples leaving a 1/2 inch headspace. Remove any air bubbles. Adjust the two-piece canning lids. Process for 15 minutes in a boiling-water canner.
